Who is eligible for zorgtoeslag?

You may be eligible if you have Dutch health insurance, your income is below the threshold (€39,719 single / €50,206 couple in 2025), and your assets are below €141,896 (single) / €179,429 (couple).

How much zorgtoeslag can I receive in 2025?

The exact amount depends on your income and household situation (single vs couple). In general, lower income means higher zorgtoeslag. Use the calculator for an estimate for 2025.

When should I apply for zorgtoeslag?

Apply via toeslagen.nl as soon as you have Dutch health insurance and meet the requirements. In general, you can still apply for a given benefit year until 31 December of the following year (check toeslagen.nl for the exact deadline).

Does zorgtoeslag count as income?

No, zorgtoeslag is not taxable income. It does not affect your income tax calculation or other benefits. It is a subsidy to help pay for mandatory health insurance.

What happens if my income changes during the year?

Report income changes to Belastingdienst/Toeslagen via toeslagen.nl. Your zorgtoeslag will be adjusted accordingly. Report changes promptly to avoid repayment later.

When is zorgtoeslag paid?

Zorgtoeslag is paid on the 20th of each month (or the next working day if the 20th is a weekend/holiday). The amount is 1/12 of your annual entitlement.
