Diesel cars have a 19% surcharge on the national part of MRB because they emit more nitrogen and particulates on average. This is about 15-16% of the total MRB amount including provincial surcharges.

What are provincial surcharges?

Each province sets annual surcharges up to a certain maximum. This is an additional levy on top of the national part of MRB. The amount varies by province.

Where do I find my car's weight?

You can find your car's unladen weight in the vehicle registration as 'massa ledig voertuig' under the 'Weights' section. You can look this up on the RDW website using your license plate.

How can I pay the MRB?
